Aug 10: Royal Canin, a pioneer in ‘Health through Nutrition’ for cats and dogs, participated in the CII India Petcare Summit 2026, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry on August 5 in New Delhi. The summit brought together policymakers, veterinary professionals, industry leaders, animal welfare, and petcare experts to discuss key priorities shaping the future of India’s petcare sector, including nutritional standard, regulatory frameworks, preventive animal healthcare, innovation and consumer awareness.
The day-long summit featured discussions on strengthening pet food science-based regulations, addressing stray animal management, advancing veterinary healthcare infrastructure, scaling innovation in the petcare sector and leveraging technology to improve veterinary services. It served as a platform for policymakers, regulators, veterinary professionals and industry stakeholders to exchange perspectives on building a stronger and more sustainable petcare ecosystem in India.
As part of the summit, Mr. Satinder Singh, General Manager, Royal Canin India, participated in the panel discussion titled “From Labels to Laws – Fixing India’s Pet Food Regulatory Gap.” The session explored the need for science-backed regulatory framework with a single nodal authority and unified voice, quality assurance, transparent labelling and greater collaboration between industry, regulators and veterinary professionals to facilitate innovation and strengthen India’s evolving pet food ecosystem.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Satinder Singh, General Manager, Royal Canin India, said,

The discussion reinforced the importance of a principled approach based on scientific evidence than prescriptive approach to facilitate thriving environment for disruptive innovation. The panel also explored learnings from mature petcare markets, shifting conversation from ingredient to nutrients to deliver health outcomes, strengthening the role of veterinarians in guiding pet nutrition, and creating greater awareness around evidence-based nutritional practices.
Through its participation, Royal Canin continued to foster meaningful dialogue with industry stakeholders, policy maker and ecosystem partner, contributing to ongoing conversations around science-based nutrition and its role in advancing pet health outcomes.
