H.R. College’s student body ‘Think India HRC’ organized South Mumbai’s biggest youth conference named ‘Trishul’ from 7th to 10th February 2024 in association with V.G. Learning Destination as the title sponsor and Vishwa Samvaad Kendra as the knowledge partner of the event. The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Managing Director of Hiranandani Group and provost of HSNC University, who also served as the chief guest of the event. The event was designed to make each session address a particular problem faced by society, and students were encouraged to share ideas with prominent figures from the industry, government and media.

Among those who graced the event and interacted with students in this event were Mr. Kaustubh Dhavse (Officer on Special Duty to Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Fadnavis), Mrs. Shweta Shalini (Advisor to Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Fadnavis), Mr. Om Raut (Nationally acclaimed director), Ms. Adah Sharma (‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Hassi Toh Phassi’ lead star and actress), Mr. Sandeep Singh (Film producer and founder of Legend Studios). During the session, various topics were discussed by the dignitaries such as the growing infrastructural prowess of Maharashtra @2030, changing role and perception of women in media and cinema, new age themes and ideas in the film industry and the impact of OTT and regional films on Indian cinema.

On the last day of the event, students distributed reusable sanitary napkins to 100 underprivileged households in Mumbai under its initiative called ‘Sakhi’, where crowdfunding was conducted to not just ensure sanitary napkins reach impoverished girls but also ensure that proper menstrual hygiene is taught to girls who have recently attained puberty.

College of Commerce & Economics says, “With this uniquely designed youth conference, the college aims to bridge the gap between leaders and youth to help address real world problems of our nation. The event was curated by Think India HRC, a student body in our campus that works especially on solving such problems and mobilizing youth towards national reconstruction of ideas, values and discipline.”
