To extend healthcare services beyond traditional settings, Saveetha College of Physiotherapy, under the esteemed Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, organized a highly successful industrial health camp on 23rd February 2024. Led by faculty members, and postgraduate students, and in collaboration with the Community Medicine Department, the camp aimed to address and alleviate various orthopedic conditions commonly faced by industrial workers.

The camp was held at Tadpole Engineering Consultancy in Mannur, where a total of 101 workers benefited from the comprehensive health interventions provided by the dedicated team from Saveetha College of Physiotherapy. The initiative underscored the institution’s commitment to community welfare and healthcare outreach.

Addressing Orthopaedic Concerns:

Workers in industrial settings often endure physically demanding tasks, leading to a higher prevalence of orthopedic ailments such as neck pain, heel pain, mechanical low back pain, and muscle stiffness. Recognizing these challenges, the team from Saveetha College of Physiotherapy focused on providing tailored interventions to address these specific concerns.

Comprehensive Physiotherapy Interventions:

During the camp, workers were assessed for their orthopedic conditions, and personalized physiotherapy interventions were offered to alleviate their discomfort and improve their overall well-being. The interventions included a range of techniques such as neck isometric exercises, stretching exercises, and environmental modifications aimed at creating a safer and healthier workplace environment.

Empowering Workers with Knowledge:

In addition to providing immediate relief through physiotherapy interventions, the team also emphasized the importance of preventive measures and self-care techniques. Workers were educated about ergonomics, posture correction, and simple exercises they can incorporate into their daily routines to prevent the recurrence of orthopaedic issues and promote musculoskeletal health.

Community Collaboration for Healthier Futures:

The success of the industrial health camp would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of Saveetha College of Physiotherapy and the Community Medicine Department. By pooling together their expertise and resources, the two departments were able to reach out to a significant number of industrial workers and make a meaningful impact on their health and quality of life.

Conclusion:

The industrial health camp organized by Saveetha College of Physiotherapy exemplifies the institution’s dedication to community welfare and healthcare outreach. By addressing the orthopedic concerns of industrial workers and providing them with personalized physiotherapy interventions, the camp has made a tangible difference in the lives of those who often face physical challenges in their work environments. Through such initiatives, Saveetha College of Physiotherapy continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting health, wellness, and resilience in the community.
