Mandi, 04 June 2025 — The Mind Brain Consciousness Conference 2025 (MBCC 2025) will be held from 4th to 7th June at IIT Mandi. The main objective of this annual conference is to understand the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) scientifically and apply it in modern contexts. This system connects ancient Indian knowledge with contemporary research, and experts from diverse fields such as neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, Indian philosophy and Vedantic theology will participate in this symposium.
The significance of these discussions is not just limited to mental health — it will also deeply impact sectors such as environment, agriculture, healthcare, innovation, and creative leadership.
Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar will be joining the conference as an inspirational speaker. Key speakers will include Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi (Vice Chancellor, Central Sanskrit University), Prof. Gautam Desraju (IISc), one of India’s most cited scientists, Prof. Rumiana Tsenkova (Kobe University, Japan), Dr. B. N. Gangadhar (Chairman, National Medical Commission and former Director, NIMHANS), and Bhakti Rasamrita Swami, a Bhakti-vedanti.
The conference is being organised by the Indian Knowledge Systems for Mental Health Applications (IKSMHA) Centre, IIT Mandi.
Special panel discussions will be held in the presence of global experts on topics such as “Indian Knowledge Systems and the Science of Cognition” and “Nurturing Civilisational Consciousness for National Transformation”.
Some of the special sessions will feature Prof. Chayan Nandi on biomarkers of consciousness, Dr. Amit Sethi on brain dynamics and cognition, and Prof. Ajay Chaturvedi on systemic perspectives on economy and civilizational changes.
MBCC 2025 is characterised by its outcome-oriented structure — where investors, judges, students and innovators come together to inspire ideas to turn into action. During this, students will present business plans based on the “Kulhad Economy” — an innovative production-centric model based on Indian values.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi said, “MBCC 2025 reflects our resolve to bring together tradition and innovation to create ideas that transform society.”
This conference will provide a platform where scholars, activists and practitioners can engage in collaborations that generate social impact.
The conference is chaired by Prof. Laxmidhar Behera (IIT Mandi), Dr. Anirban Chakraborty (National Institute of Material Science, Japan), and Prof. Ganapathy Ramanathan (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA & Uppsala University, Sweden).
