The three-day event will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” The event will bring together semiconductor companies, technology leaders, policymakers, investors, researchers and other stakeholders from India and overseas.

More than 500 exhibitors are expected to participate, including a large number of international companies, with representation from more than 40 countries. The event will also feature country pavilions and a dedicated area focused on developing the semiconductor workforce.

SEMICON India 2026 comes as India expands its semiconductor strategy from chip design and assembly towards a broader ecosystem covering manufacturing, advanced packaging, supply chains, research and development and skilled talent.

The government has also moved ahead with the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission, aimed at strengthening domestic capabilities and encouraging investment in advanced semiconductor technologies. Several projects approved under the earlier programme are expected to move into commercial production by the end of 2026.

The push has strategic importance for India as global companies look to diversify semiconductor supply chains. India is seeking to attract more investment while building domestic capabilities that can support industries ranging from electronics and automobiles to telecommunications, artificial intelligence and defence.

A day before the event, Modi is also scheduled to meet global semiconductor executives in New Delhi, with discussions expected to focus on investment, manufacturing capacity and technology partnerships.

For India, SEMICON India 2026 is therefore more than a technology exhibition. It comes at a crucial stage in the country’s effort to develop a semiconductor ecosystem that can support manufacturing, innovation, employment and long-term economic growth.

With global industry leaders gathering in New Delhi, the event will offer India an opportunity to showcase its progress and strengthen partnerships as the race to build resilient semiconductor supply chains intensifies worldwide.
