BCIC, Volvo India

Bengaluru 7th June 2024: In commemoration World Environment Day 2024, Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) in association with Volvo Group India organized a cleanliness drive at Bannerghatta Forest Range on June 5, 2024. Over 75 volunteers representing BCIC member companies participated in this drive led by G V Rao, Chairman, CSR & Branding Expert Committee, BCIC collecting over 20 sacks of plastic litter and glass bottles. The Cleanliness Drive was inaugurated by Mr. Prabhakar Priyadarshi, IFS, Dy. Conservator of Forests, Bannerghatta National Park.

Commenting on the cleanliness drive, Dr. S Devarajan, President, BCIC, said “This is a perfect example of how two institutions can come together to conserve, preserve and nurture Mother Earth’s natural heritage. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal not only in the city but also in the forest areas and the adverse impact it has on the environment.”

Mr. G V Rao, Chairman, CSR & Societal Branding Expert Committee, BCIC, said,“ An Interconnected web of life ensures the stability and resilience of our environment. It’s imperative that we come together to conserve the forest. By making conscious choices and advocating for systemic changes, we can reduce our impact on the planet and pave the way for a sustainable future.”

Around 12 forest guards accompanied and guided the volunteering team. This initiative was organized under the aegis of CSR & Societal Expert Committee of BCIC.
