Adani Airports Attracts Dollar 1 Billion Investment to Expand India’s Airport Infrastructure

Mumbai, Sep 9: Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) is set to raise around Rs 9,825 crore through a fresh equity investment from a group of leading global and domestic investors, giving the airport operator additional capital to expand its infrastructure and strengthen its business operations.

The investment consortium includes Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and funds managed by BlackRock. The investors are expected to acquire a combined 5.54 per cent stake in AAHL through three tranches. The transaction values the company at a pre-money equity valuation of around $18 billion.

AAHL has entered into share subscription and shareholders’ agreements with the investors. The final tranche of the investment is expected to be completed by July 2027.

The fundraise comes at a time when India’s aviation industry is expanding rapidly, supported by rising passenger traffic and increasing demand for airport capacity. For AAHL, the fresh capital provides an opportunity to accelerate investments across its airport portfolio and build new sources of revenue.

The company plans to deploy the funds towards expanding and modernising airport infrastructure, developing integrated airport-city ecosystems and scaling up passenger-focused and other non-aeronautical businesses.

The expansion of non-aeronautical activities is particularly important for the airport business, as revenue from retail, food and beverages, parking, advertising, hospitality and other passenger services can provide additional growth beyond traditional aviation operations.

The investment also reflects growing interest from global financial institutions in India’s infrastructure sector. With domestic air travel expected to continue increasing, airport operators are looking to expand capacity, improve passenger experience and develop airports as broader commercial hubs.

For AAHL, the latest fundraise is expected to support its long-term growth strategy while strengthening its position in India’s rapidly developing airport and aviation infrastructure market.
