13.01.2025: Sehgal Neo Hospital, Delhi, has launched the 100 Days Intensified Campaign for the elimination of tuberculosis in the national capital, under the patronage of the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI). The campaign, part of the National Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Programme, is spearheaded by the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). This landmark initiative underscores the critical role of private healthcare institutions in supporting India’s mission to become TB-free by 2025.

The campaign launch event, hosted at Sehgal Neo Hospital, saw an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Sunil K Khetarpal, Director of AHPI, who emphasized the transformative potential of private healthcare institutions in driving awareness, detection, and treatment for TB elimination. “The private sector’s engagement is pivotal in achieving the national TB elimination goals. Through active case finding, enhanced diagnostic services, and community outreach, private hospitals can complement government efforts and bridge critical gaps in TB care,” said Dr. Khetarpal.

The campaign includes intensified case finding among hospital patients, the establishment of Systems for TB Elimination by Private Sector (STEPS) Centers, active screening through health camps, and nutritional support under the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative.

Dr. Mridu Jain Sehgal, Associate Director of Sehgal Neo Hospital, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in combating TB. “This campaign reflects the synergy between public sector resources and private sector efficiency. By working together, we can ensure a comprehensive, patient-centric approach to TB care and elimination. The AHPI’s vision for quality-focused private healthcare aligns seamlessly with our hospital’s commitment to community health,” she said.

Dr. Jai Khullar, Consultant in Internal Medicine at Sehgal Neo Hospital, presented the hospital’s action plan for the campaign. “Our strategy focuses on improving TB detection, enhancing diagnostic capabilities, and ensuring strict treatment adherence. These steps will help us make a measurable impact on TB outcomes in our community,” he stated.

The event featured an esteemed panel of speakers, including experts from THE UNION, WHO, and the State TB Cell, who stressed the need for grassroots engagement, technological integration, and fostering patient-centric care.

In a symbolic gesture, attendees took the Nikshay Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to making India TB-free.

Dr. Narin Sehgal, Medical Director of Sehgal Neo Hospital, delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, reaffirming the hospital’s dedication to this critical cause. “As the first private hospital in Delhi to lead this campaign under AHPI’s patronage, we pledge to inspire other healthcare providers and set a benchmark for proactive TB care,” he said.

The launch of the 100 Days Intensified Campaign marks a milestone in India’s fight against TB, with Sehgal Neo Hospital and AHPI setting the tone for collaborative, impactful action in public health. Together, they aim to make India’s vision of being TB-free a reality.
