New Delhi, Sep 18: Gold prices moved higher in futures trading on Friday as steady demand in the spot market encouraged fresh buying by traders.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for October delivery gained Rs 1,309, or 0.86 per cent, to reach Rs 1,54,290 per 10 grams. The contract recorded a business turnover of 2,156 lots during trading.
The rise came as market participants increased their positions, reflecting continued interest in gold amid firm demand.
Gold remains closely watched by both investors and consumers, with prices responding to changes in demand, market sentiment and broader economic conditions. Futures trading also gives market participants a way to manage price risks and take positions based on their expectations.
The latest movement keeps gold prices at a high level, which could have an impact on jewellery buyers while continuing to attract attention from investors tracking the precious metal market.
With gold playing an important role in household savings as well as investment portfolios, changes in its price remain significant for consumers, traders and businesses across the market.
