Mumbai, 09 September 2026: thunderOS, CloudTV’s newest and CTS-certified Smart TV operating system, is partnering with Billion and realme TechLife, making them the first Smart TV brands to carry the solution. CloudTV, the company behind thunderOS, is India’s first homegrown Smart TV operating system. The partnership goes live today, marking the rollout of a high-performance operating system across Smart TVs from both brands, giving consumers access to a more intuitive and versatile television experience. With the festive season approaching, the launch comes at an important period for consumer electronics and Smart TV purchases in India. The Smart TVs will be available for purchase on Flipkart starting today.
Connected TV adoption in India has grown rapidly over the past few years, driven by rising smart TV penetration and increased demand for personalised, app-based viewing. CloudTV has been at the forefront of this shift, now powering over 8 million devices and reaching over 16 million viewers across the country.
As the role of television evolves beyond traditional viewing, consumers are looking for easier ways to discover content, greater personalisation and more flexibility in how they use their screens. Against this backdrop, thunderOS brings together 350+ live channels, 130+ OTT and other apps, 45+ gaming apps and browsing, alongside support for DVB-S satellite connectivity and 800+ free-to-air channels across news, entertainment, sports and more.
The partnership also reflects the growing demand for feature-rich technology at accessible price points. For Billion, thunderOS complements the brand’s focus on thoughtfully selected technology, accessible pricing and pan-India availability, adding an enhanced Smart TV experience to its consumer proposition. While for realme TechLife, thunderOS extends CloudTV’s ecosystem into a lineup spanning smart TVs, streaming devices, audio products and smart home appliances, bringing its connected technology offering to Smart TV consumers.
“India’s TV industry has long relied on operating systems built for other markets, and that gap is exactly where thunderOS comes in. We’ve built a platform from the ground up to solve for what Indian consumers and manufacturers actually need — deep content discovery, voice-first navigation, and the flexibility to move between On-Demand and Linear TV entertainment, Gaming and now even Information Access via AI on one screen. Our partnerships with Billion and realme TechLife are proof that made-in-India innovation can be scalable, efficient and premium at the same time.” said Abhijeet Rajpurohit, Co-founder and COO, CloudTV.
At the centre of the upgraded experience is Bolt, CloudTV’s AI voice assistant, which enables users to search and navigate their TV using voice. It also gives you general trivia making the interaction more informational than just content specific. SmartAudio uses AI to adapt sound based on the genre of the content being watched, while Personalised Recommendations help users discover content based on their recent viewing. Continue Watching lets viewers resume shows and movies directly from the home screen.
thunderOS also simplifies navigation through Unified Content Search, allowing users to search across multiple OTT apps from a single interface. Kids Mode provides a dedicated space with curated, kid-friendly content, while PC Mode allows the TV to be used as a larger screen for browsing, editing, creating and other tasks. thunderOS is CTS-certified and supports certified versions of YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and several other OTT applications.
The partnerships with Billion and realme TechLife underscore CloudTV’s growing role in shaping the next phase of Smart TV adoption in India. thunderOS, with its robust certified platform and advanced technologies like AI-powered experiences, personalised discovery and the ever-expanding world of content and apps, is aimed at making connected TV usage easy and simple for end consumers. As CloudTV continues to partner with leading technology brands, it remains focused on building a scalable, homegrown Smart TV ecosystem that brings greater choice, innovation and value to Indian households.
