Sep 03: Bharatanatyam artist Apeksha Niranjan will present Krishna Yamini, a special recital on Lord Krishna, on September 4, 2026, as part of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Festival 2026 celebrations at Sri Dwarkadhish Mandir, Sri Saihari Kshetra, Apta Phata, Karnala.
The performance will begin at 10:00 pm and is open to audiences with free entry.
Krishna Yamini looks at the many sides of Lord Krishna — from his playful and mischievous nature to his beauty, love, devotion and the deeper emotions found in the stories associated with him. Through Bharatanatyam, Apeksha will bring these stories to the stage through movement, expressions and storytelling.
For Apeksha, Krishna has been a subject that allows her to explore both dance and emotion.
“Bharatanatyam, for me, is more than movement. It is a language where rhythm breathes, expressions speak and stories come alive. With Krishna Yamini, I wanted to explore the different shades of Krishna and the emotions in his stories through this language of dance,” says Apeksha Niranjan.
She adds,
“What makes Krishna’s stories so special is that there is something different to discover in them every time. There is playfulness, love, devotion and also a deeper spiritual meaning. Performing these stories during Janmashtami makes the experience particularly meaningful for me.”
Apeksha’s recital will be part of the larger Janmashtami celebrations at Sri Dwarkadhish Mandir. The temple has been hosting cultural programmes featuring Indian classical and devotional music and dance, along with the annual Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations.
With Krishna Yamini, Apeksha hopes to share a familiar story in a way that allows audiences to experience Krishna through the language of Bharatanatyam.
