Kolkata, Aug 17: Commuters on the Sealdah-Bangaon route are set for a more comfortable journey, with Eastern Railway extending its AC suburban EMU service to Bangaon Junction from August 20.
The service will operate Monday to Saturday, connecting Sealdah with key stations including Habra, Ashoknagar Road, Gobardanga, Thakurnagar and Chandpara before reaching Bangaon at 12:23 p.m.
The return AC local will leave Bangaon at 12:35 p.m. and reach Sealdah at 2:25 p.m.
The extension is expected to boost suburban connectivity across North 24 Parganas while offering passengers a cooler, more convenient and comfortable travel option.
For daily commuters, students and other passengers, the service will provide an improved rail link between Bangaon and Kolkata, supporting easier access to workplaces, educational institutions and essential services.
The move also strengthens rail connectivity to Bangaon, an important town near the India-Bangladesh border, and adds to efforts to improve the quality of suburban passenger services.
With the AC service set to begin on August 20, passengers on the corridor can look forward to a more comfortable ride and stronger connectivity between Bangaon and Kolkata.
