Hyderabad, July 22: The Institute of Practical Accountancy (IPA), 33 years old pioneering institute that has been bridging the gap between theory and practice of accountancy announces IPA Samman Awards 2025 & 2026 to be presented in a function to be held at FTCCI on August 8.
The awards are being organised with the support of the Telangana and AP Tax Bar Association, AP Sales Tax Bar Association, Telangana Tax Practitioners Association, Hyderabad Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Hyderabad Chapter of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI), Hyderabad Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.
In a screening meeting held in Osamina University the recipients announced. A major highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 late CMA BV Ramana Murthy, Farmer President of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India, for 2026 late Sri Veera Reddy, Founder Sagar Cements Ltd, Prof. M. Sulochana, Retired Professor, Department of Commerce, Osmania University.
Among the distinguished recipients of the IPA Proficiency Awards are CA S.B. Kabra (2025) and CA Amritkumar Kota (2026) in the Chartered Accountant category; CMA J.S. Anand (2025) and CMA Arunkumar (2026) in the Cost Accountant category; CS Marthis (2025) and CS Vasudev Rao (2026) in the Company Secretary category; Sri Krishna Koundinya (2025) and Sri A.V.S. Krishna Mohan (2026) in the Tax Advocate category; and Sri P.L. Narasimham (2025) and Sri Hussainvali (2026) in the Tax Practitioner category.
The Award for Excellence in Accountancy & Finance will be presented to Dr. CA Ramakanth Tripathi, CEO, Jagapathi Investments Pvt. Ltd., for the year 2025, and Sri Vasudevan, CEO, Equitas Bank Ltd
The Best Commerce Faculty Awards will honour distinguished teachers representing leading universities and colleges across Hyderabad. The awardees include Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, Prof. J. Ravi Kumar, Prof. Indrakanti Sekhar, Dr. Sabiha Shareef, Prof. Kastoori Srinivas, Dr. V. Santhoshi, Prof. M.J. Eliat, Dr. S. Jhansi Rani, Mrs. G. Danalaxmi, Dr. L.V. Kamala, Dr. D. Sanjeeva Rao, Dr. Shiny Rajan, Dr. D. Sree Ram Daida, Dr. K. Naveen Kumar and Dr. Rashi Mathur, representing universities, government institutions, autonomous colleges and private colleges.
One of the noteworthy features of this year’s awards is the significant representation of women among the awardees, particularly in commerce education and professional services. Their achievements reflect the increasing participation of women in finance, taxation, accounting and corporate governance, sectors that have traditionally been male dominated. Their achievements reflect the increasing participation of women in finance, taxation, accounting and corporate governance, sectors that have traditionally been male dominated.
These awards will be presented recognising distinguished professionals from the fields of accounting, taxation, finance, corporate governance and commerce education for their exemplary contributions to their professions and to society.
This year’s awards will recognise achievers across multiple categories, including Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company Secretaries, Tax Advocates, Tax Practitioners, and professionals who have excelled in the field of Accountancy and Finance.
The awards are adjudged by an eminent jury comprising Adv. Dwarakanath, Additional Solicitor General, Supreme Court of India; Dr. A.S. Durga Prasad, Past President of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India; Dr. C.S. Datla Hanumanth Raju, Past President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India; Prof. V. Appa Rao, Former Dean, Department of Commerce & Management, Osmania University; CMA CA K. Narsimha Murthy, eminent economist; and CA Aparna Surabhi, eminent Chartered Accountant and Corporate Leader.
Speaking about the awards, the organisers said that the IPA Sanman Awards recognise professionals and educators who have upheld the highest standards of ethics, knowledge and public service. “Behind every successful business is a competent accountant, a committed tax professional and an inspiring teacher. Through these awards, IPA celebrates those who quietly strengthen India’s economy and shape the next generation of finance professionals,” they said.
In today’s AI Era, practical accountancy has gained more importance than ever, Artificial Intelligence can automate bookkeeping and data entry, but it cannot replace human judgment in interpreting financial information, ensuring compliance, advising clients. Consequently, practical accounting skills remain highly relevant.
