Mumbai, September 2025: Acclaimed actor Mohanlal has been chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023, the highest recognition in Indian cinema. The award will be presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23, 2025.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the honour on X, stating: “Mohanlal’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! The legendary actor, director, and producer is being honoured for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema.”
With over four decades in the industry and more than 350 films across multiple languages, Mohanlal is celebrated for his versatility and commanding presence on screen. This award highlights his immense impact on Indian cinema and his enduring legacy.
Coinciding with this recognition, Mohanlal is gearing up for his next big-screen spectacle, Vrusshabha, where he will be seen playing a king for the first time in his illustrious career. The film features breathtaking visuals by cinematographer Antony Samson, editing by KM Prakash, soul-stirring music by Sam CS, and sound design by Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty. Dialogues have been penned by SRK, Janardhan Maharshi, and Karthik, while action sequences are choreographed by renowned masters Peter Hein, Stunt Silva, and Nikhil.
Vrusshabha is presented by Connekkt Media and Balaji Telefilms in association with Abishek S Vyas Studios. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, C.K. Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Saurabh Mishra, Abishek S Vyas, Praveer Singh, Vishal Gurnani, and Juhi Parekh Mehta.
Shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, with releases planned in Hindi and Kannada, Vrusshabha is set for a grand worldwide release this Diwali.
