Bengaluru, October 06, 2025 – Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, has announced the launch of the Endoflip™ 300 impedance planimetry system in India. This cutting-edge solution offers real-time measurement of the esophagus, pylorus, and anal sphincter during endoscopic evaluation of esophageal motility disorders.
Esophageal motility disorders interfere with the normal swallowing process (peristalsis), causing symptoms such as difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), chest pain, regurgitation, and heartburn. These conditions are often misdiagnosed due to symptom overlap with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) and other gastrointestinal disorders. The Endoflip™ 300 provides a minimally invasive way to measure changes in esophageal dimensions as food and liquids pass into the stomach, allowing for a more precise diagnosis.
Using a specialized balloon catheter, Endoflip™ 300 measures and displays diameter estimates at up to 16 points within the balloon along with balloon pressure, enabling real-time assessment of tissue compliance in key areas of the GI tract particularly the esophagus, pylorus, and anal sphincter. This technology supports diagnostic evaluations, pre- and post-treatment assessments, and can potentially guide interventions such as endoscopic dilation during the same procedure. Assessing esophageal motility in real time during endoscopy can accelerate clinical evaluation and improve patient outcomes.
Endoflip™ 300 is currently the only technology available that allows surgeons to objectively assess the tightness of a fundoplication or the adequacy of a myotomy during surgery, which may enhance procedural success and reduce complications.
By enabling faster and more accurate diagnosis and management of esophageal motility disorders conditions often missed during standard endoscopies the Endoflip™ 300 opens new possibilities for both patients and clinicians.
Abhishek Bhargava, Senior Director, Medical Surgical, Medtronic India, said, “Medtronic is committed to transforming esophageal care in India by providing physicians with advanced technologies that improve clinical outcomes. The Endoflip™ 300 system empowers gastroenterologists and GI surgeons with objective data to speed up diagnosis and guide treatment decisions for patients with esophageal motility disorders. As a global healthcare leader, our mission is to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life through continuous innovation.”
The Endoflip™ 300 impedance planimetry portfolio includes the Endoflip™ 300 system, Endoflip™ measurement catheter, and Esoflip™ dilation catheter. Commercially available in India, this technology has the potential to standardize motility diagnostics and elevate the quality of patient care across the country.
