The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) granted observer status by the United Nations for COP28

Bengaluru, 8th December 2023: The Institution of Engineering and Technology, one of the world’s major engineering organisations with approximately 154,000 members from 148 countries, has been granted Blue Zone access at the United Nations’ premier climate change conference, COP28. The conference is set to take place at Expo City, Dubai, from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

The Blue Zone is only accessible to accredited parties and observer delegates. Over the course of the two weeks of the conference, COP28 will feature the World Climate Action Summit, the country pavilions, presidency events, and hundreds of side events, including panel discussions, round tables, and cultural events. The Observer Status puts the IET at the core of the event, enabling critical conversations with major influencers of global climate change policy to further the organisation’s mission of technology advancement for social impact.

“The fifth industrial revolution will be built around sustainable and human centric technologies. The IET in its observer role will take this into account in the quest to combat climate change.
